BioDNA Laboratory Services Ltd is an ISO 17025 accredited biotechnology company offering several human, animal, bird and bacteria DNA testing, as well as water and food testing, genotyping, sequencing and custom based research.
It is the only maltese company that has accredited several of its food tests, making it the first Maltese company to provide a wide range of ISO accredited microbiology tests. BioDNA Laboratory Services Ltd was awarded GMP certification by the Malta Medicine’s Authority for the microbiological testing of Pharmaceutical grade water, finished products and raw material according to the European Pharmacopeia. This makes BioDNA Laboratory Services Ltd the only company in Malta that follows both GMP and ISO 17025 standards in forensic DNA testing, paternity testing, microbiological food testing, water testing, bacterial identification and bird sexing by DNA technology.
To ensure quality, BioDNA Laboratory Services Ltd participates in routine proficiency testing schemes organised by College of American Patholgies, GEDNAP, LGCC and Eurofins.

Dr. Marisa Cassar
Ph.D, B. Pharm (Hons), MBA (Henley) - Quality Manager & Forensic Scientist
Marisa Cassar graduated in Pharmacy from the University of Malta in 2001 and trained in DNA forensics at The National Laboratory of Toxicology in Barcelona, Spain. She read for her PhD at the University of Malta studying the genetics of epilepsy with the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
Dr. Marisa Cassar has over thirteen years of experience in molecular genetics, DNA profiling and sequencing.

Dr. Claire Bartolo
Ph.D, B.Sc. (Tech) - Technical Manager
Claire Bartolo graduated with a B.Sc. (Tech) from the University of Malta in 1989 and in 1996 was awarded a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from The Ohio State University, Ohio, USA.
Her doctoral research involved the study of novel mutations and molecular mechanisms in Muscular Dystrophy.
After graduating, Dr. Bartolo spent two years as a post-doctoral fellow at the Ohio State University, USA and a further two and a half years as a Research Assistant Professor of Pathology and Technical Director of the Molecular Oncology Laboratory at the Cancer Research Facility of the University of New Mexico, USA. Dr. Bartolo has over twenty years work experience in Molecular Genetics Laboratories.
